  • Biographie :

Roméo Fassinou is a Master’s student in Public Health (research option) at the University of Montreal and a member of the Canada Research Chair in Epidemiology and One Health. Originally from Benin, where infectious and zoonotic diseases pose significant public health challenges, he developed a strong interest in epidemiology during his undergraduate training in public health and epidemiological surveillance.

Under the supervision of Dr. Hélène Carabin, his research examines the association between seropositivity to Toxoplasma gondii and Toxocara spp. and selected mental health indicators in the Canadian population. Using national data and statistical modeling approaches, including Bayesian methods, his work aims to better understand the potential role of neglected parasitic zoonoses in mental health and to promote more rigorous methodological approaches in this emerging field.

He aspires to pursue a research career in infectious disease epidemiology and contribute to impactful public health initiatives internationally.
